Originally hailing from Hong Kong and Taipei, Al Rocco was tailored in London, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and now currently resides in Shanghai, China. Breaking stereotypes and changing cultures since 2010, Rocco has been in the frontier of Chinese Hip-Hop since his 2014 hit single《Red Money》and has been representing the Chinese culture internationally ever-since.

Unlike your ordinary Chinese rapper, Rocco raps primarily in English. After moving from LA to Shanghai in 2012, Al has been diversifying his music with more Mandarin and Cantonese. His style of music is made up of Hip-Hop, Rap, Trap and Rnb elements focusing on topics bridging the Eastern and Western culture, representing the evolution of a new age, a new China. 

Headlining music festivals《Ultra, Storm, SXSW, Ayo, Strawberry, MIDI, MDSK, Heyhou, Freak Out..》Rocco has performed shows along-side with international names《Big Bang’s Seungri, OT Genasis, OG Maco, Araabmuzik, Keith Ape, Paloalto, ASAP Mob, Sonny Digital, Lex Luger, Jurassic 5, DJ Q-Bert, Gai, Vava, Jony J, Higher Brothers and more》. To highlight, some of Rocco’s first shows were Charities related to support education and cancer research, where he performed live on Hong Kong national television TVB, as well opened events with China’s NBA all star Yao Ming. 

Al has been interviewed by《BBC News, LA Times, USA Today, 1626, The Metro Times, Asian Entrepreneurs, Hypebeast..》and has worked closely with brands like《Rocawear, Ecko, Tissot, Beatsbydre, Yoho, Adidas, SSUR, Joyrich, Timberland, Redbull, Absolut, Converse, Chivas, Budweiser, G-Givenchy, Dienastie, Akenz and many more》. 

In 2012, Rocco released his first Cantonese single《In Da Club》in a video game by Activision《Sleeping Dogs》ranked top 10 that year. In 2013, he was one of the three founders of《Busy Gang》known at the time to be the best Chinese rap group with hits like《Dageda and Ganja Wang》. But things really began to move quickly after the release of his 2014 hit single《Red Money》. Al was featured on the world news《China’s Red Money to take on the Greenback》by the New York Times, CNN, Yahoo News, Bloomberg, etc. That same year, he was featured on World Star Hip-Hop's《What it’s like being black in China》skit and Vice’s documentary《Shanghai Strawberry Music Festival》.

In 2015, Rocco was featured in Beats by Dre’s《Straight Outta Somewhere》global campaign with Hong Kong legends, Sam Lee and LMF. Al also recorded the theme song for China’s version of Sex in the City movie《Tiny Times 4》. By the end the year, three of Rocco’s mixtapes《Raised in China, Busy Gang 800 and Red Money》have been nominated top 50 albums of China by Timeout and That’s Magazine. He was also ranked top 2 artist nationwide in China by Xiami.

After the separation of Busy Gang in 2016, Rocco released his single《All On Me》with Red 8 label mate, Blow Fever, which became the theme song for the Chinese reality TV show《The Next Unicorn》. Followed by featuring NBA all star Isaiah Thomas on Rocco’s single《Ball Out》for their NBA China tour documentary, during the same year, Al Rocco and Blow Fever went on their first national China tour《24K》of 13 Chinese cities. Rocco was also featured on Beats by Dre’s《Got No Strings》 global campaign promoting wireless living alongside with《Pharrell Williams, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, Michael Phelps, Party Next Door and more》.

2017 has been a new breaking point for Al Rocco. Starting the new year with a bang, Rocco released his first Mandarin single《Ying》which hit 1 million views in the first day. Followed by releasing a collaborative single《China Rebels》with Skrillik’s artist, Wiwek, which was featured on Billboard and Hardwell on Air 300. While working on his second EP《Terracotta》with New York producers Synthwerks, Al was featured on Beats by Dre’s global commercial《Beats X》. During the same time, Rocco was invited to perform at《SXSW》music festival in Austin, Texas. He was the first Chinese rapper to have performed there. Coming home from the states, he started to headline music festivals and his own sold out shows.

Summer 2017 is the new birth year for Chinese Hip-Hop with the new reality TV show《The Rap of China》which shocked the world. In the first episode, Al Rocco was eliminated because he rapped in English. He released his first diss song《The Rap of China DISS》which took over the Chinese internet with over 5 million plays. He releases another single《City Lights》featuring Lexie with over 3 million plus views. Around the same time, he has been interviewed by《BBC News, LA Times, USA Today, 1626, The Metro Times, Hype-beast, Nowre》and many more. He was also featured on Bazaar and Yoho Magazine, and was on the front page of major Chinese platforms《酷狗,网易云,优酷,土豆,Tencent,QQ音乐, etc》.

While on tour headlining China’s biggest EDM music festival《Storm》, he was the first Chinese rapper to have performed at the festival, Rocco releases his next single with Tizzy T《Red and Yellow》which hit 5 million plus views online. His next project, Red Money MV sponsored by Absolute and Beats by Dre, hits 4 million plus plays. Towards the end of the year, Rocco collaborates with Adidas Originals for a new project《Swag It Out》which reached over 10 million views. Performing with his girlfriend Naomi on the last episode of《The Road to Runway》, a Chinese reality TV show looking for the next Chinese Victoria Secret Angel, was Rocco’s highlight for the year. The song he performed《The Way You Move》reached over 4 million views and counting. With 20 new songs released and over 40 million views in 2017, his single《Red Money》was ranked top 10 nationwide on QQ’s music charts.

2018 continues to be a busy year for Al Rocco. On New Years day, Rocco will be releasing his new MV《Reload》sponsored by Jay-Z’s clothing brand《Rocawear》. Rocco and Rocawear will also be collaborating on Al’s first exclusive and limited merchandises. While working on his new album, he will also be featuring on a new single《Combo》with Big Bang’s Seungri alongside with NHR producer TPA and China’s diva, Ivy. Moreover, Al has songs with legendary American producers《Lex Luger, Sonny Digital and Araabmuzik》ready to make new waves the new year. Rocco has also teamed up with China Rap stars, Blow Fever, Gai and Bridge collaborating with original Trap God, UZ, on a new banger《Cray》. This is just the beginning of 2018. With so much new music on the way, expect Al Rocco’s Asia and US tour this year.
